About the Author
INTRODUCTION
I have always been interested in being active, healthy, and living well. I want to enjoy all the aspects of my life. A few years ago, I began picking up books and articles with terrific ideas on well-being, yoga, nutrition, meditation, health products, and pretty much everything in this area. I've kept notes and tried whatever tips interested me. That compilation grew and grew.

I now tread on unfamiliar waters—writing this book! A few years ago, I would always say, “I can’t seem to find my divine purpose, so if you see it, please send it my way.” Oh, I had devoted many years to being the mother of two boys, now grown men with families of their own. I had been a teacher, worked as a professional in public relations, development, and fundraising. I have thrived at jobs, been fired, created my own, and at this stage, felt like I was just plodding along. And, at the same time, I realized I was getting older. My dearest buddy, Kaiya, always said I had so much to offer—I just didn’t know how.

Growing Younger Gracefully is my curation of the various elements that offer well-being at any and every age. We actually can enhance our well-being, or as I like to say, “grow younger gracefully,” with a commitment to the pillars of well-being: nourishment, movement, and attitude. Each relies upon the other, yet each holds great significance independently.

A few years ago, I went to a study group and the discussion was on “divine purpose.” The leader encouraged us to look around our homes and see what we gravitate towards when we don’t have to. My home office was (and is) filled to the brim with books and articles about the many elements of well-being. Was this my divine purpose? I began to keep a journal of these fascinating tips, and then was really inspired to share these great ideas for aging well. I like to take risks, so I took the plunge and began to write a newsletter. Then, I started a website. I began to lead workshops, and just share great ideas for aging well.

And now, here I am, writing this book. It is now a central part of my journey, and I hope it helps you along on yours.

How to Use This Book

Growing Younger Gracefully is divided into the three parts that are my pillars of well-being: Attitude, Nourishment, and Movement.

Each of the tips offered here are for your consideration to craft your personal map for well-being. It is not possible to do everything every day. However, if you consider one to two tips a day, or even per week, that tip might become part of your daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly routine.

I encourage you to make a commitment to yourself to incorporate one simple action per day—whether it’s from this book or somewhere else—that brings you happiness, peace, and an expansive spirit.

These tips are organized by topic, but it is not recommended that you start at the beginning and read through in order. I suggest you find one randomly and take that tip into your routine for a day. Or, if you are looking for something specific to address a current interest or struggle, do just that.

It is my deepest hope that you will find a few tips that brighten your day—or better yet, brighten your life!
